Ritzwell enters the world of Japanese manga

The Japanese brand's design appears in the acclaimed manga Blue Lock by Yusuke Nomura, published in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine

An unexpected encounter between contemporary design and manga culture highlights Ritzwell’s ability to move across languages and generations while preserving its identity. The presence of the brand’s furnishings within a recent Japanese manga publication is not merely an aesthetic reference, but also a recognition — by one of the most influential cultural media in contemporary Japan — of deeply shared values: authenticity, attention to detail, the pursuit of balance, and a quiet expressive strength.

Within Japanese culture, manga is far more than a narrative language: it is a visual and symbolic system capable of shaping collective imaginaries and influencing aesthetic sensibilities on a global scale. In this context, author Yusuke Nomura’s decision to include and reinterpret several Ritzwell furnishings within the pages of Blue Lock, published in the combined Issues 4 & 5 of Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine, represents a direct dialogue between design and contemporary visual culture, where every detail contributes to the construction of atmosphere and meaning. With over 50 million copies sold worldwide, Blue Lock is today one of the most successful Japanese manga series internationally, engaging a new generation of readers through a strong, dynamic, and highly recognizable visual universe. Within this context, the presence of Ritzwell furnishings takes on even greater significance: an unexpected encounter with one of the most influential manga series in the contemporary scene.

Among the products selected and reinterpreted within the story are several of the brand’s representative collections, all designed by Atelier D.Q. VESPER Lounge Chair is a seat inspired by the evening star, conceived as an intimate and contemplative refuge. Its enveloping forms, curved upholstered backrest, and hand-stitched leather details interact with the steel structure in a balance between comfort and artisanal precision, expressing an idea of timeless and understated elegance. Alongside it appears RIVAGE Easy Chair, characterized by a wooden structure and a soft seat that combines stability and comfort. Its walnut or oak armrests are inspired by the curves of the roofs of Japanese temples and shrines, translating a traditional architectural reference into an essential and harmonious contemporary language. Also featured is BLAVA Easy Chair with BLAVA Ottoman, which interprets the concept of relaxation through balanced proportions and meticulous attention to detail. The combination of armchair and ottoman enhances the overall comfort experience, expressing the continuity between form, function, and material sensitivity that defines Ritzwell’s design philosophy.

The presence of the brand within a manga work confirms design’s ability to enter cross-cultural territories, moving beyond the traditional boundaries of interior design and becoming part of a broader cultural imagination. For Ritzwell, this represents a significant recognition: confirmation of an aesthetic language capable of engaging with contemporary culture while maintaining a deep coherence with its founding values. Founded in 1992 in Fukuoka, Ritzwell is internationally recognized today for its artisanal quality, research into natural materials, and a design approach that combines essentiality with lasting durability. The brand interprets living spaces as sensory and cultural experiences, where every object is conceived to accompany everyday life with discreet elegance and emotional continuity.
